CSI's New Instructor Onboarding

Welcome

We in CSI's Teaching & Learning Center love to welcome new faculty to our campus!  If this is you, we extend a warm welcome!  Your expertise and dedication are invaluable assets, and we're glad you're here.  We look forward to working with and supporting you and other new faculty.  We work to create a welcome uniquely suited to meet your needs:

Choose Your Primary Role

Full-time Instructor

Please be on the lookout for invitations from the CSI Teaching & Learning Center as we:

  1. Partner with you to identify and provide access to:

    1. Important CSI processes and resources you need to know about.
    2. The students, teachers, and learning environment at CSI.
    3. Key Canvas skills and course development you will need to be ready for day one of classes.
  2. Continue to offer support, enrichment, and resources throughout your first teaching year with monthly activities and training provided by CSI learning designers.  We'll focus on actionable principles of design and pedagogy, and connect you with opportunities to observe other faculty teaching.

  3. Host you and all incoming faculty for the CSI Learning Lab, held on CSI's beautiful Twin Falls campus each August.  Here we will celebrate your arrival, connect you with returning faculty, and begin answering your questions and providing training as you prepare for the semester.

Part-time/Adjunct Instructor

We recognize that our excellent part-time instructors balance many commitments!  We cannot overemphasize, however, that an investment of your time initially in new instructor onboarding will save you time later and do much to help you to start smoothly as a new, part-time or adjunct CSI instructor:

  1. Please ensure you have completed your new hire paperwork with HR, have active CSI log in credentials, and have worked with CSI's IT Department to complete your Multi-Factor Authentication set up.

  2. Meet with your department chair to gain access to any course materials you will need, such as syllabi, physical course content, curriculum guides, or similar.

  3. Participate in New Instructor Onboarding - a short training course that will highlight:
    • Important CSI processes and resources you need to know about.
    • The students, teachers, and learning environment at CSI.
    • Key Canvas skills and course development you will need to be ready for day one of classes.
  4. Additionally, you are invited to activities we offer all instructors at CSI, as your time and needs allow.  Some opportunities are offered virtually!  Please keep an eye on your CSI email for timely invitations.

Thank You!

We recognize and prioritize faculty development and place a high value on great teaching and learning.  We're pleased to welcome you to our campus community at CSI, and invite you to recognize, together with us, that personal and professional improvements are ongoing endeavors that can be made richer through collaboration with others.

Welcome to CSI, where it is our honor in the Teaching & Learning Center to support you as an effective teacher and colleague!
