Bridge to Success

The Bridge to Success Program is dedicated to empowering degree-seeking students on how to navigate barriers and challenges, access resources for academic and personal growth, and develop skills for success. The main objectives of the program are to meet the diverse needs of the students we serve, promote social and academic relationships between students, faculty, and CSI staff, and to advance skills to prepare students to enter and succeed in the workforce efficiently and effectively.

The Bridge to Success program is here to assist students from their first step on campus until they earn their certificate or degree.

Regional Partners

Jerome School District

In their role as a member of the CSI community college taxing district, the Jerome school system is a valuable partner in meeting our Title V goals. Specifically:

  • At 37.9%, Jerome County has the largest percentage of Hispanic and Latino residents of any county in the state of Idaho.

  • Jerome High School has the second largest number of Hispanic and Latino students of any high school in Idaho, and the largest of any high school in the college’s service region.

  • Hispanic graduation rates have traditionally lagged behind non-Hispanic graduation rates across Idaho and Jerome High School is no exception, where 82.8% of white students graduate high school within four years, while only 76.9% of Hispanic students graduate in the same time period (Idaho State Department of Education (a), 2022).

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)

AVID is a national college and career readiness program whose purpose is to close the opportunity gap in graduation rates among diverse and underrepresented demographic groups. AVID offers services to all students, although it concentrates on the underserved in the academic middle. Students enrolled in the AVID program take the AVID elective during the school day as part of their academic schedule. AVID students have additional mentorship, academic guidance, community involvement and leadership opportunities.

Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs

In order to continue to listen, connect, and learn along with the Hispanic community and the students CSI serves, the CSI Title V Program will partner with the ICHA. As noted on their website, the ICHA is a non-partisan state agency providing services to the Hispanic community and serving as a liaison between the community and government entities.

Working toward economic, educational, and social equality, the Commission identifies and monitors programs and legislation, and researches problems and issues facing Idaho's Hispanic community. The Commission identifies solutions and provides recommendations to the governor, legislature, and other organizations concerning issues facing the State's Hispanic population (Idaho Commission on Hispanic Affairs (b), 2022).
