Bordewick Honors Scholarships
Each student who participates in the CSI Honors Program is supported by scholarship money from the CSI Foundation. Most of this generous funding comes from the Bordewick Honors Fellowship (although some other sources are available as well). Students must stay in good standing with the program to maintain scholarship assistance.
Helen Bordewick
Helen Jean Bordewick was born in Buhl, Idaho, in 1932 to Emil and Hazel Bordewick. Her parents were former owners of the local newspaper, The Time-News. Helen graduated from Buhl High School as valedictorian of her class with her love of education continuing throughout her life.
Helen received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado in 1954 and her master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School, in 1955.
Helen’s career took her across the United States. She lived in San Francisco as personnel director of I. Magnin and Company, in Tampa, Florida, as manager of Mass Brothers, and in New York as a buyer for Lord & Taylor and Mark Cross. At one time, she owned her own boutique in Rhinebeck, New York.
Before her death, Helen established a scholarship endowment in memory of her mother, Hazel Kruse Bordewick. She wanted to honor her mother’s love of education and her kindness to those who were less fortunate. Those qualities were also very evident in Helen and the CSI Honors Program is grateful to the continued assistance that her generous gift provides.
