What is Idaho LAUNCH at CSI?

Idaho LAUNCH for high school seniors is new this year with the graduating class of 2025 as the first being invited to take advantage of these funds towards their higher education goals (delete). Idaho LAUNCH aims to connect high school seniors to in-demand careers through training and education at College of Southern Idaho (CSI).

This is different from the Idaho LAUNCH for Adults program that has served adults seeking to improve their skills or change careers. Idaho LAUNCH for Adults has been used to pay for technical and career training through many of CSI’s Workforce Development courses.

Who is Eligible for LAUNCH?

To qualify, students must:

  • Graduate from an accredited Idaho high school or equivalent:
    • Public
    • Charter
    • Private
    • Homeschool
    • GED
  • Be an Idaho resident
  • Be enrolled in or have applied to an in-demand career program at an eligible Idaho institution
  • Begin enrollment by fall semester after graduation, unless granted an extension from one of the approved extension reasons
  • Complete a Career Pathway Plan or equivalent , submitted for approval by each district
  • Review the approved list of eligible in-demand careers
    • NOTE: During the application process, students will be required to pick a program (major or subject area of focus) and the school they plan to attend. While they are required to make selections now, these decisions can be revisited and updated by students later.  If students make updates after they have been offered a contingent offer, it may impact their final offer
  • Visit nextsteps.idaho.gov for a complete listing of the eligible in-demand career programs.

There is no GPA requirement, and you do not need to prove financial need. Your application to CSI will be approved automatically if you have graduated from an Idaho high school or completed equivalent homeschooling or earned your GED in Idaho.

What CSI courses can I use LAUNCH funds for?

While 4-year universities offer a limited number of eligible programs, you can apply your LAUNCH funds to over 100 different programs at CSI! You have a greater variety of programs available to you when you choose to attend CSI. This means that not only will your up to $8000 of funding take you farther at CSI, but your program options are even better as well.

*CSI program qualification for Idaho LAUNCH grant is subject to funding availability provided by the State of Idaho.

How Much is Available to Students Each Year?

Students can receive up to one-half of the initial grant award in the first year of a program. However, for programs that are less than 12 months in length, students can use the full awarded amount (80% of tuition and fees up to $8,000) in one year. Check nextsteps.idaho.gov for the most up-to-date information on approved programs and providers, as these will be updated on an on-going basis.
