Release Date: Thursday 2023-02-02
The College of Southern Idaho Office on Aging is excited to announce the resumption of weekend meal service for 175 seniors living in Blaine, Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Minidoka, and Twin Fall counties. The resumption of service is thanks to a $32,760 donation from St. Luke’s and SelectHealth in support of the home-delivered meals program. The funds will be used to provide weekend meals for vulnerable seniors living in the Magic Valley.
Due to high demand, inflationary pressures, and budget constraints, the CSI Office on Aging was forced to discontinue weekend meal delivery on November 1, 2022, thereby reducing the number of meals participants received each week from seven to five.
“Food insecurity impacts many families in Idaho, and it remains one of our top community health areas of focus at St. Luke’s. We are pleased to support the CSI Office on Aging and its many home-delivered meal partners to continue their weekend service for vulnerable seniors in our communities,” said Kyli Gough, community health manager at St. Luke’s Magic Valley.
“At SelectHealth, we are happy to help provide nutritious food and needed social engagement for seniors throughout the Magic Valley. We appreciate the work of local non-profit organizations, which provide home-delivered meals,” offered Amy Stahl, Select Health Regional Marketing Manager.
With this donation, the CSI Office on Aging will be able to reinstate the weekend meals through June 30, 2023.
