TWIN FALLS, ID – The leaders of Idaho State University (ISU) and the College of Southern Idaho (CSI) took action recently to further strengthen an already robust partnership between the two institutions. A new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed by CSI President L. Dean Fisher and ISU President Robert Wagner on Monday, September 23, will provide seamless pathways for CSI students to pursue advanced education in high-demand fields such as education, engineering, and health care.
“Collaboration between institutions of higher education is a key component of meeting workforce demands,” said Fisher. “Our expanded efforts with Idaho State University are a model of how we can work together to serve Idaho students and to strengthen the economy.”
The agreement includes a commitment to expanding nursing and medical lab science programs in Twin Falls to meet growing health care needs, along with a commitment to streamline student access to academic and advising support at both institutions.
President Wagner made it clear that ISU is in the partnership for the long haul. “We are present. We are here,” said Wagner on Monday. “We will continue to be here and we will grow as the communities grow and the needs grow. We will work closely with CSI to make sure we are aligning ourselves and accentuating the fantastic work they do and the foundation they have created in these communities.”
The agreement also includes expansion of the PaCT program, which allows paraprofessional educators to earn bachelor’s degrees and teaching certificates, all with financial support from Idaho State University, along with a continued commitment from ISU to support teacher education in the Magic Valley.
