Release Date: Tuesday 2022-09-06

Twin Falls, ID – The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) recently announced that College of Southern Idaho (CSI) Foundation Executive Director Erika Allen has been named as a fellow in HACU’s upcoming Leadership Academy/La Academia de Liderazgo.

Allen joins 39 other fellows from across the nation who were announced on Tuesday, September 6th, as participants in the one-year fellowship which is slated to begin later this month. The Leadership Academy is designed to help fellows prepare for leadership roles in institutions of higher education, with a particular emphasis on Hispanic Serving Institutions. In addition to being named an academy fellow, Allen is one of only ten recipients to also be named as a Carnegie Fellowship Recipient.

“I am excited to participate in HACU’s Leadership Academy and to have been selected as a Carnegie Fellowship recipient,” Allen said. “As a Latina, first-generation college student and higher education leader, I am eager to learn more about research-based models to engage in meaningful praxis towards LatinX-servingness."

"I look forward to representing the College of Southern Idaho, the state’s first Hispanic Serving Institution, in HACU’s national leadership program.”

Dr. Dean Fisher, the President of the College of Southern Idaho, said the following about Allen’s fellowship opportunity: “I am very pleased to have Erika participating in HACU’s Leadership Academy. Erika is already a talented leader, and this fellowship will allow her to further develop and refine her skills. As a Hispanic Serving Institution, CSI will continue to seek ways to participate in activities like these as we focus on how to best serve all of the students of the Magic Valley and beyond.”

Founded in 1986, HACU represents over 500 colleges and universities around the world. The Leadership Academy faculty bring more than 100 years of combined higher education experience to the academy and will guide fellows in developing special projects tied to their current institutions as a part of their academy experience.
