GED® is separate from CSI and taking classes at CSI is not required. However, math and language classes are offered free in the greater Magic Valley area and may help test-takers prepare to be successful on the various exams. Call 208-732-6534 for the current schedule.
A GED® is just as good as a high school diploma and sometimes it is better.

Testing Fees

Tests cost $36 each, payable at the time of scheduling by debit/credit card or
voucher number. $36 per subject x 4 subjects = $144 total. The first 2 re-takes in a single subject are $10 each.

High School Equivalency Certificate

The Social Studies component of the current, 2014 GED® test series satisfies Idaho’s requirement for American Government. Students who earn their GED® credential still need to submit the application for a High School Equivalency Certificate and $10 to the state. The application and instructions are available online.

Tests completed before January 2, 2014

In addition to the GED® tests, the State of Idaho required an American Government credit in order to receive a High School Equivalency (HSE) certificate. This credit may be obtained in either of these ways:

  • American Government class (12th grade or college level) taken in Idaho with a passing grade. A copy of the transcript with this government-grade must be sent to the state office with your application.
  • The American Government test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. A score of 70% or better is passing.
